Obituary for Rita G. Surprenant
BILLERICA - Rita G. Surprenant, of North Billerica, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the age of 94. She was the wife of the late Harvey J. Surprenant. Rita was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Rose M. (Landry) Loranger.
She was born in Billerica and graduated from the Howe High School in 1939. Rita was a devoted Catholic and a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church in North Billerica her entire life. She loved to sing. Rita was known for her beautiful singing voice and would often sing at weddings and family functions. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s Church Choir for many years.
Rita also had a creative talent in the art of crocheting. She made countless, beautiful afghans and baby sets that are cherished by those who received them.
Rita is survived by her sister, Margaret A. Metivier and brother Richard M. Loranger as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was pre deceased by her sisters Edith Ryan, Florence M. Doherty, Eleanore E. Grady and Mildred T. Mulligan and her brothers David G. Grady, Maurice H. Grady, Albert W. Loranger, Edward M. Loranger and Robert F. Loranger Sr.
Her family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the dedicated personnel at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley who cared for Rita with kindness and dignity during her illness.
SURPRENANT – Of Billerica, August 15, Rita G. (Loranger) Surprenant. Visitation will be held at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Andrew’s Church, N. Billerica at 12:05 PM. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Church, 45 Talbot Ave., N. Billerica, MA 01862.
