Obituary for James J. Finn
James “Jim” J. Finn – Age 70, loving husband of the late Donna M. (Zuben) Finn passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday.
He was born in Boston, February 8, 1949, a son of the late John T. and Veronica B. (Flynn) Finn and was raised in Charlestown before moving to Somerville and then Billerica.
As a young man, Jim worked in carpentry and towing before landing a job with the MBTA where he worked as a Machinist (Local 264) for 25 years before his retirement in 2014.
Jim was a loyal husband and amazing father. He loved road trip vacations with his family. He and his wife Donna were best friends. They enjoyed going out to restaurants, always trying new places. He loved tinkering with his cars and working around the yard. When he wasn’t working around the house you could find Jim at the Cronin Club laughing and joking. He loved going to his daughter’s house for breakfast and his son’s house for Sunday dinners. Jim was loved dearly by all who knew him. A larger than life figure with a wild sense of humor. Selfless and generous, he had a heart of gold. A brave soul that defeated many odds. He was as genuine as they come and will be missed deeply by his immediate family, extended family, several long time friends and former co workers.
He is survived by his son, James J. Finn and his wife Stacey of Billerica; his daughter Erin M. (Finn) Dwyer and her husband Shaun of Lowell; his brother, William Finn and his wife Joan of Nashua, NH; his sisters, Veronica Callahan and her husband Ed of Conway, SC; Anne Marie Kaskaviqi of Hudson, NH, and Mary Arlene Baldwin of Andover, his sisters in law, Sherry Finn of Ocala, FL and Elaine Finn of Detroit, MI, his two grandchildren, James and Camryn Finn and many other close family and friends that loved him. He was the brother of the late John and Frederick Finn and brother in law of the late Thomas Baldwin.
Visiting hours will be held Friday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
