Jeanne Marie Barron, born Destefano, age 79, a longtime resident of Billerica, Massachusetts and formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Jack Barron; her parents, David Destefano and Catherine (Cullity) Destefano of Somerville; and her brother, David Destefano of Dedham.
Jeanne is survived by her son, John Barron of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and his children, Jack and Ashley, and by her daughter, Marci Barnes of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, her husband David, and their children, Emma and Kate. She was a devoted mother and a deeply cherished grandmother who loved her grandchildren beyond measure and took immense joy and pride in each of them.
Jeanne dedicated her career to Middlesex Community College, where the college’s mission resonated strongly with her values. She took particular pride in her work on the student scholarship program, helping non-traditional students and adult learners striving to achieve their goals through education.
She was the most loyal, loving, and kind person to all who knew her. Jeanne maintained lifelong friendships from her childhood neighborhood, staying connected through the years with unwavering devotion. She looked back on her life with rose-colored glasses, always choosing to see the positive in every situation—especially when it came to her family and loved ones. A beacon of strength through adversity, she shared her resilience, wisdom, and compassion with her children and grandchildren. All who knew her are better people for having known her.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 30, from 8:30am to 9:30 am at Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. All are invited to attend the services and to join the family for a bereavement luncheon following the Mass at the Billerica Country Club, 51 Baldwin Rd., Billerica.
Her love, optimism, and generosity leave an enduring legacy that will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
