Obituary for Edward G. Rabidou

Edward G. Rabidou – age 93, husband of Marilyn L. (LeClair) Rabidou, died at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 with his family by his side.

Born in Woburn on February 28, 1931, Edward was raised in Billerica by his mother, the late Carmen (Annino) Rabidou.

Eddie was educated in Billerica, graduating in 1948 from Howe High School. He joined the US Air Force after graduation and served until 1952. Following his discharge, he returned to his native Pinehurst where he worked at the Pinehurst Market and met the love of his life, Marilyn, with whom he celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary this past September. Eddie, along with Marilyn by his side, raised his family in the home he built in Pinehurst, where he continued to reside until his death. He was the best Dad ever in his daughter’s eyes. His warmth, guidance, sense of humor, and most of all love, meant everything to his girls.

Eddie worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years before retiring in 1986. In 1957, he became the first mailman in the Pinehurst section of Billerica. After walking his route for several years, he was glad when he transitioned to a mail truck to deliver the mail. He had 3 different routes in Pinehurst through the years and loved his “patrons” who affectionately knew him as “Eddie the Mailman”.

Soon after retirement, he took on one of his most loved rolls in life, Papa. He loved spending time with his grandchildren whether it be attending Scott’s baseball games or seeing Katie perform in a play. They were his pride and joy.

Eddie’s family meant everything to him, as he did to them. Whether it was visiting on weekends, taking many family vacations, celebrating holidays or going out to eat. These were the things he cherished most. He will be deeply missed by his family.

Finally, we would like to thank the team from Beth Isreal Lahey Health at Home Care for their help and support.

Besides his wife, Edward is survived by his daughters, Susan Gallagher, and her husband Mark of Nashua, NH; and Patricia Mulno, and her husband Lincoln of Tewksbury; grandchildren, Katie Mulno, Scott Mulno, and his partner Vanessa Clark, He is also survived by his nephews James and Paul Heggarty, Edward and Stephen LeClair; and his niece Karen LeClair. In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Heggarty.

A visitation will be held Sunday, October 27th at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, MA, from 1-4 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 28th at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 12:30 p.m.
