Elisa Avallone Loro, 91 of Billerica died Monday, September 2, 2024.
Born in Gaeta, Italy on June 6, 1933, Elisa was a daughter to the late Salvatore and Maria (Vendittis) Avallone. She moved to the United Sates and lived in the areas of Somerville and Brighton for many years before moving to Billerica in 1989. Elisa was employed as an assembler for Honeywell before retiring in 1996.
An avid crotchetier, Elisa knitted countless blankets for local charity’s for young children of the church. She was a master of cooking and was well known for her Sunday dinners and her passion for making amazing food by hand. In addition, she will always be remembered as someone who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was always socializing with family and friends and always put others before herself. Her family was her entire world.
Elisa is lovingly survived by her daughter, Maria Berbaum, and her husband Dennis of Billerica; grandchildren, Ryan Louis Berbaum and his girlfriend Carly Pinette of Billerica, and Cassaundra Elisa Berbaum of Stoneham; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and her cherished dog, Roxy. In addition to her parents, Elisa was predeceased by her son, Nicholas Loro; and her brothers and sisters, Gaetano, Vincenzo, Cosmo, Filomena and Annunziata.
Visiting Hours will be held Friday, September 6, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Interment in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in Elisa’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
