Barbara A. Jenkins, age 91, wife of the late Edward T. Jenkins Sr. died Sunday, October 1, at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington with her family by her side.
She was born in Winthrop, April 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Lillian L. (Frassica) Gundersen. She was raised in Winthrop and moved to Billerica 71 years ago.
Barbara was employed as a Paraprofessional at Project Support for the Billerica School Department for 32 years. She retired three years ago at the age of 88. She was a former member of St. Theresa Church Ladies Sodality and in 2017 was the Boston Celtics Hero Among Us.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Edward Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Billerica, Michael Jenkins of Billerica, Mark Jenkins of Groton, Dean Jenkins and Nicole Schypies of Chelmsford, Robert Jenkins and his wife Maria of Dunstable, Joel Jenkins and his wife Laura of Billerica, also her daughters-in-law Kathleen Walsh and Donna Jenkins, 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved son Peter Jenkins and her sister Gloria Marcinkowski.
A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
