Obituary for Sophie Liegakos
Sophie Liegakos 97 years old of Billerica and Tewksbury, passed away peacefully November 28th. She was born in Tewksbury on September 24, 1924 the daughter of the late James and Hariclia (Patsakou) Liegakos. Sophie was the sister of the late Tessie Sukalas, and brothers, Nick, John, and George Liegakos. She graduated from Tewksbury High and attended Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. She worked at the Courier Corporation of Lowell, MA for many years as a Production Control Supervisor, and was later employed at John Hancock Insurance Co. as an Assistant Manager in the advertising department. She spent her many happy, retirement years at the Billerica Senior Housing Development. Sophie was a woman of many interests. She traveled the world and always loved the time she spent in Greece. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed following the Patriots, Celtics and the professional tennis circuit. Sophie always had a book at her side and expressed herself in the beautiful poetry she composed for family and friends. Burial was held at Tewksbury Cemetery on November 30th. She will be greatly missed.
