Obituary for Richard W. "Dick" Grant Sr.
Richard "Dick" Weston Grant, Sr of Billerica passed away to our lord on October 28, 2021, at age 81 after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Anastasia (Jamieson) Grant. It was a true love story that everyone saw and cherished.

Richard resided in Billerica for 53 years and had been a communicant of St. Theresa's church in Billerica. Richard is a member of The American Legion Post 462 as well as Billerica's Council of Aging. Richard is predeceased by his mother Stella (Lauritzen) Phinney and his father Richard Southall Grant. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Fine from Wakefield, MA. He is also survived by Frank Mirasolo who was like a brother to him and his wife Christine from Billerica MA.

He is survived by his six children. Richard Grant and his wife Ana from Merritt Island FL, Gary Grant and his wife Nelda from Dracut MA, William Grant and his wife Cynthia from Billerica MA, Adam Grant from Litchfield NH, Karen Milliken from Billerica MA, and Theresa Garrant from Manchester NH. Richard is also blessed with seventeen beautiful Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. They surrounded him (Grampy) with love every day and gave him such great joy.

Richard joined the Army out of high school and talked often about his experiences living in the Arctic circle near the North Pole. It was unique experience. He also worked for Polaroid for many years before retiring early in 1996 to pursue his passion of wood working. He created Richard's woodworking and was a master craftsman creating precious doll furniture; wooden toys, rocking horses and other amazing items. There wasn't anything he couldn't do for his family and friends using his talents to build many home additions, decks, porches, and beautifully designed basements. He was a true craftsman.

Richard loved his family and all the neighborhood kids above all else. The door to his home was always open and food on the table for anyone who stopped by; nobody needed an invitation. He enjoyed hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire especially with his family at reunion time in July.

He loved to travel and went to some fascinating places, Iceland, Marshall Islands, Philippians, Alaska, Spain, the Caribbean, Florida, and many other destinations. He loved his Red Sox (well sometimes); and playing cards and beating everyone at horseshoes. Richard (Dad, Grampy) was always there for everyone. He was loved and will be sorely missed.
