Obituary for Loula B. Enos
ACTON – Loula B. (Allen) Enos,83, beloved wife of Peter A. Enos, died Sunday at their home with her husband by her side.
She was born in El Paso, TX the last surviving of twelve children of John and Emaline (Duff) Allen. She greets her brothers and sisters Ollie Mae, Isabell, Margery, Lydia, Gladys, Nancy, Ethel, Alfred, George, Steve, and Sammy in eternal life. She lived in Billerica for 29 years before moving to Falmouth and then to Acton in 2005.
She met Peter, her husband of 63 years, while working as a roller skating carhop (the cutest carhop) at the Oasis in El Paso while he was serving at Fort Bliss. They were married at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Wilmington, MA and spent time in Augsburg, Germany while Peter was stationed there.
While living in Billerica, MA, Loula developed many life-long friendships with neighbors and friends. She was always available for a chat, a cup of coffee, and her two bits of advice. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting afgans, and watching Days of Our Lives.
In her later years, Loula enjoyed being near the ocean and checking out the boats, but not riding in them! The one exception was taking the Island Queen from Falmouth Heights to Oaks Bluff Martha’s Vineyard. She also loved to shop, “walk the mall” and go out to lunch.
Loula was a long-time parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Billerica and was a part of the Ladies Sodality. She was also involved in Marriage Encounter and was an Adult Advisor for the Teen Encounter Program at St. Basil’s Salvatorian Center in Methuen, MA. She was faith-filled and shared that faith with her family and friends.
Loula was a very special and caring person. Her true joy came from being the ultimate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
Besides her husband, Loula is survived by two daughters, Robin Coughlan and her husband Stephen of Acton, Delana Callahan and her husband Walter of Lowell; two sons, Edward Enos and his wife Marian of Westford and Andrew Enos and his partner Michelle Henrick of Hudson, NH; eleven grandchildren, Kelly and her husband Dan, Kristen and her partner Andy, Rebecca, Larissa and her husband Dave, Corey and his wife Ashley, Haley and her husband Hugo, Madison, Julia and Max as well as three great-grandchildren, Devin, Kira and Moises. She was the grandmother of the late Katie Enos.
Loula’s Funeral will be held Saturday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Mary’s Church, 796 Boston Rd., at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Monday, Sept. 27, at 1:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West River Hospice, 63 Kendrick St., Needham, MA 02494
