Obituary for Grover "Sonny" C. Garrant
Grover “Sonny” C. Garrant – Age 73, beloved husband of Edith J. (Ames) Garrant died Tuesday at their home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Waltham, July 12, 1943, a son of the late Edward C. and Adelia J. (Barbarick) Garrant and has lived in Billerica most of his life.
Mr. Garrant proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and later served in the Naval Reserves for 16 years. He was a Life Member of both the VFW Post 2597 and the DAV Post #47.
He was employed in the Sheet Metal Maintenance Department for Raytheon having worked for 34 years and retired in 2005.
Mr. Garrant was a member of the Thomas Talbot Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Billerica and the Aleppo Shriners in Wilmington where he was a Minuteman. He was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 491NR in Lynn. He enjoyed playing cribbage at the Billerica Senior Center and with the St. Marie’s Cribbage League.
Besides his wife, Mr. Garrant is survived by his sons, Steven Garrant and his wife Theresa of Brunswick, ME and Carl Garrant of Chelmsford; his brother, Richard Garrant of The Villages, FL; his sister, Mary Galvin of Athol; three grandchildren, Mitchell Garrant, James Surago and Julie Surago Pierce and many nieces and nephews

Garrant, A Funeral Service will be held Saturday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
