Anthony J. Gird
Loving Father, Son, Brother, Fiancé, Uncle and Friend
Anthony J. Gird, age 58, died unexpectedly Saturday at North Shore Medical Center – Salem Hospital.
He was born in Boston, January 22, 1962 a son of JoAnne (Siders) Gird and the late Charles Gird Sr. and lived in Billerica for over 25 years until recently moving to Peabody.
Mr. Gird proudly served in the US Army from 1979 to 1984. For the past 35 years he worked as an Administrative Contracting Officer for the Department of Defense where he was an exemplary leader and mentor towards his coworkers.
Besides his mother he is survived by one son, Nicklas Gird of Peabody; his fiancé Christine Pollock and her three daughters Ann Pollock, Jennifer Pollock, and Jane Haight of Peabody; one brother, Charles Gird Jr. and his wife Sara of Centerville; and three sisters, Dianna Wakaf of GA, Lisa Paradis and her husband Mark of Tewksbury, and Jodi Gird-Rodriguez and her fiancé Ulysses Santiago of Beverly, along with his nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
He loved his fiancé dearly and was eagerly awaiting their wedding day, June 6, 2020. The two of them spent all of their time together over these past three years, going on lots of adventures and were looking forward to making many more memories with each other.
He was a devoted father to his son, Nick, who he raised on his own for the past 17 years. He was Nick’s biggest fan and loved attending his son’s school and sporting events.
He was a proud member of the Polish Russian Lithuanian American Citizens Club and a huge Boston sports fan. He enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and vacations with family, and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed entertaining and making people laugh.
He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help someone in need. Most of all he cherished every moment he could spend surrounded by his family.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday July 2, 2020 at St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica
