Obituary for William N. Batty Jr.
Batty - Of Billerica, unexpectedly Oct. 25, William N. Batty Jr. Esq. beloved husband of Janice (Pan) Batty. Brother of Boyden Batty of Beverly. A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Minute Man Sportsman’s Club, 56R Francis Wyman Rd., Burlington. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Durand-Farley Fund, c/o Massachusetts Skeet Shooting Association, 19 Sagamore St., Braintree, MA 02184. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines, was a Graduate of the University of Miami and Suffolk Law School and practiced law for over 35 years in Boston and Billerica. While in law school, his charismatic personality enabled him to be a successful bartender at the Bull and Finch Pub (“Cheers”) and to meet his beloved wife. Bill was an avid supporter of shooting sports, including Skeet, Trap and Cowboy Action Shooting: a member of the Minute Man Sportsman’s Club and Harvard Ghost Riders. He held several leadership positions at MMSC and the National Skeet Shooting Association over a 25-year period culminating in his election as President of the NSSA in 2008. He was inducted into the NSSA Hall of Fame in 2013.
