Obituary for Dorothy J. Hamilton
BILLERICA – Dorothy J. (Phillips) Hamilton, age 89, beloved wife of Richard A. Hamilton, died peacefully Saturday in Billerica.
She was born in Somerville, June 16, 1927 to the late Ronald and Isobel (Maguire) Phillips and lived in Somerville until moving to Billerica in 1955.
Mrs. Hamilton loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending her sons' sporting events, and was a past President of the Billerica Grid Iron Moms' Club. Later, she enjoyed attending all of her grandchildrens' activities. The grandchildren always looked so forward to the Christmas Eve Parties at Grammy and Grampy's.
Mrs. Hamilton enjoyed gardening, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo and going to Foxwoods. In her later years, she enjoyed her day trips with her sister Barbara and her niece Jennifer.
Dorothy was a very kind- hearted and caring person and was truly loved by all who knew her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Rick Hamilton of Nashua, John Hamilton and his wife Susan of Nashua, Paul Hamilton and his wife Lori of Chelmsford and Jim Hamilton and his wife Maria of Tewksbury; one daughter, Jeanne Burl of Chelmsford; one brother, Donald Phillips of Nashua; one sister, Barbara Morgan of Burlington as well as 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also the sister of the late Eleanor Bevis.

Family and friends may call at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, on Tuesday from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at St. Theresa's Church, Billerica, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial to follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
