Obituary for Matthew S. Pierce
Matthew S. Pierce – Age 28, died Sunday at the Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, August 26, 1988, a son of Steven P. and Susan (Bachelder) Pierce of Billerica. Matthew was raised in Billerica before moving to Florida three years ago. Growing up in Billerica Matthew enjoyed playing hockey with his brothers and many good friends. He had a great sense of humor and his smile would light up a room. His greatest joy was the birth of his daughter Mia in January.
Mr. Pierce worked as a laborer in the construction industry and was active in the Ft Lauderdale recovery community.
Besides his parents, Mr. Pierce is survived by his daughter, Mia Pierce and her mother, Hayley O’Brien of Woburn; his brothers, Andrew and Jeffrey Pierce of Billerica; his paternal grandparents, J. William and Judith Pierce of Gloucester and his maternal grandmother, Elaine Bachelder of Reading. He was the grandson of the late Robert and Geraldine Bachelder. Matthew also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zack’s Team Foundation 50 Tower Farm Road, Billerica, MA 01821. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
