William J. Porter Jr., 86, of Billerica and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Sobotka) Porter.
Bill was born in Pittsburgh PA, on January 24, 1937, the son of the late William J. and Virginia (Young) Porter.
Bill was an Army veteran and later employed as a physicist at several area corporations. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Billerica Garden Club. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and activities at the Council on Aging in Billerica. He also cherished the many wonderful journeys with his wife and family to Germany, Switzerland, a train trip to Canada, camping in Yellowstone and many deep sea fishing trips.
Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by his daughters, Christine Norcross and her husband David of Newton, NH, Carolyn Porter of Billerica, a Grand Daughter, Renia Porter, a brother, Robert Porter and his wife Edie of Portland, OR, as well a niece and several nephews.
At his request, all services will be private with interment at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica.
