William “Bill” J. O’Connell, age 61, beloved husband of Tammy L. (Larivee) O’Connell, died Thursday Nov. 24, 2022 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 26, 1961, a son of the late William H. and Lorraine (Goodwin) O’Connell and lived in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1966.
Bill graduated from Northeastern University and was employed as a longtime Electrical Engineer at MIT Lincoln Labs.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Daniel O’Connell and his fiancée Marianne of Holbrook, Stephen O'Connell and his wife Elena of Leominster, and Matthew O'Connell and his wife Clarice of Billerica; two step-daughters, Stephanie and Olivia Pantano; one sister, Cheryl Codner and her husband William of Billerica, and two nieces Bridget and Lauren; six grandchildren, Camryn, Kyden, William, Bentley, Colby, and Mia as well as many friends.
Bill was passionate about science and highly proud of his work. He loved fitness, going on cruises, and skiing with his wife. He cared deeply for his family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish in St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
