William J. Gallagher Jr., age 88, died Saturday at Lowell General Hospital – Main Campus after a brief illness.
He was born in Boston, September 12, 1937 a son of the late William J. and Alexandria (Tracy) Gallagher and lived in Charlestown before moving to Billerica over 60 years ago.
Bill was a machinist for the MBTA for 36 years retiring at the age of 65 in 2002 and was a regular donor with the American Red cross donating over 100 pints throughout his life.
He is survived by three brothers, Patrick Gallagher of Burlington, Francis James Gallagher of Billerica and Joseph Gallagher of FL as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alice McDonald, Joan Duncan, Marilyn Martell, Paul and James McGrath and Robert and John Gallagher.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 11 – 12 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
