Obituary for William F. Sheehan

William F. Sheehan, 70, of Dracut, MA, formerly of Billerica, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 29th, 2025.

William was born in Cambridge, MA, on April 21, 1955, to the late Harold and Agnes (Hammes) Sheehan. William built a life rooted in hard work, family, and quiet strength.

He began his career in 1976 working at the North Billerica Company until 1978, after which he joined Joan Fabrics, where he remained a dedicated employee until their closure in 2002. William later joined PolarTec, where he worked until his retirement in January 2024.

William was a devoted husband father and grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Tracy (Scannell) Sheehan of Dracut, and their loving daughters: Erin Sheehan and her partner, Allan Mullin, of Dracut, MA; Kalyn Sheehan of Dracut, MA; Nicole Sheehan of Hampton, NH; and Kiley McCusker and her husband, Cameron McCusker, of Saco, ME. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to his three grandchildren: Ashlee, Haylee, and Dominic.

William also leaves behind his brother, Robert Sheehan, and his wife, Patty Sheehan, of Billerica, MA; as well as his sisters: Gail Houghton and her husband, James Houghton, of Port Charlotte, FL; Dorothy Murray of Chelmsford, MA; Jean Nance and her husband, Chris Nance, of Woburn, MA and Joan Desharnais of Weare, NH.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Powers and her husband, Brian Powers; Katherine Guild and her husband, Ronald Guild; as well as his brother-in-law, James Murray.

William was a former member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club, where he took great enjoyment in participating in the pistol league—a hobby he truly loved. He also cherished family camping trips, especially their time at Moosehead Lake and Bayley’s Campground in Maine, where they created countless cherished memories together.

William will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 1 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. His funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Beth Israel Lahey Health-Joslin Diabetes Center.
