William F. “Bill” Walsh, age 73, died Monday, August 7, 2023 at Care One in Wilmington after a brief illness.
He was born in Salem, MA on June 27, 1950 the first of five children of the late William L. Walsh and Anne M. (Gilmore) Walsh and was a lifelong Billerica resident.
Following graduation from Billerica Memorial High School in 1968, Bill attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he majored in English. He returned to Billerica Memorial High School where he taught English and Video Production for 46 years and was active in the production of the high school plays and musicals.
Bill received his Master’s Degree in Media Literacy from Fitchburg State College in 1989. For 20 years (1993-2013), Bill wrote a syndicated weekly media column for the former Billerica Minuteman.
He is survived by one sister, Catherine O’Keefe and her husband Christopher of Brookline, NH; two brothers, Tim Walsh of Vernon, VT and Pastor Bob Walsh and his wife Alice of Milton, NH as well as many friends and former students. He was the brother of the late Richard Walsh.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, August 12, at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 2 – 4 p.m. with a Short Service of Remembrance and Committal to be held at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
