Obituary for William D. Gillespie
William D. Gillespie – Age 90, died Sunday at the Lowell General Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Boston, March 9, 1926, a son of the late Frank and Mary (McGee) Gillespie and lived in Boston before moving to Billerica in 1962. Mr. Gillespie proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a member of the VFW Solomon Post.

He was employed as a Dredge man for Local #25 Marine Division for over 30 years having retired at the age of 65.

Mr. Gillespie is survived by his sons, Daniel Gillespie of Nashua, NH, Paul Gillespie of Dracut, Shawn Gillespie of Lowell and Alan Gillespie of Cape Cod; his daughter, Kathy Staudinger of Revere; his brother, Bernard Gillespie of Roslindale and is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was the former husband of the late Bertha E. (Stewart) Gillespie and father of the late William Gillespie and brother of 11 deceased siblings.

GILLESPIE – Of Billerica, Jan. 1, William D. Gillespie, Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Drive, Cambridge, MA 02140.
