Obituary for William A. Porter
William A. Porter, Age 70, died Saturday at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington after an extensive battle following complications from a stem cell transplant.

He was born in Cranston, RI, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Wigglesworth) Porter and was raised in Maine and lived in Lexington before moving to Billerica 42 years ago.

Bill worked for many years for the Bull & Finch in Boston and later worked as a Product Manager for Callenstich in Concord before his retirement.

Bill was known for his infectious laughter, warm smile, kid-like sense of humor, and his wealth of useless knowledge. He loved playing and being around his dogs who were like his children. His kids and grandkids were the light of his life.

He is survived by his daughters, Robin Burrows of Billerica and Daphne Hosea of GA; his son, Andrew Porter of Billerica; his brother, Charles Porter of Raymond, NH; his sisters, Nancy Isaacs and Patricia Woodbury of ME and Jean Murphy of Burlington, and was the late brother of Margaret Porter, and he is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Samantha, Killian, and Keegan Burrows; Eliana, Zachary and Logan Porter; and Tiana and Tyler Hosea, and many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of Robin (Higgins) Porter of Merrimack, NH.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 2-5 p.m. Masks will be required. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org
