Obituary for Wayne Mountain
Wayne “Moose” Mountain, age 82, of Largo Florida, formerly of Billerica, passed away on June 3, 2022 of natural causes.
Wayne was born on September 11, 1939 to the late Thelma (Larkin) Mountain and George Mountain. Wayne left high school to serve in the US Air Force and after leaving the service worked as a firefighter in Somerville and Billerica and ran a roofing and construction business. He and his family resided in Billerica until his retirement in the mid-1980s. He subsequently moved to Largo, Florida and worked at Largo Hospital managing the transportation unit. Wayne worked full time at Largo Hospital until just before his 80th birthday.
Wayne was a natural athlete, playing semi-professional football in his twenties. He played competitive softball and basketball and was a league-champion candlepin bowler. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed keeping in touch with his firefighter colleagues.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Dorothy Louise (Gardner) Mountain and his four children and their spouses, Robert Mountain and Carol Kean, Patricia and Keith Bouthillette, Wayne and Stacy Mountain, and Judy and Brian Raboin. "Grandpa Moose" is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and his brother, Robert Mountain. Wayne will be missed by his dear friends John Hickey, Richie Morrissey and Ann-Marie Ruffino. Wayne was predeceased by his brothers Bill, George, and Ernest Mountain.
A graveside service will be held on July 16th at 11:00a.m. at Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Tampa Bay SPCA, https://spcatampabay.org/tribute or 727-586-3591
