Walter H. Van Dyke died unexpectedly Feb 26, 2022 at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. Son of the late Walter H. and Avis P. (Morine) Van Dyke. Cherished husband of Barbara (Acheson) Van Dyke with whom he shared fifty-six years of a wonderful marriage. Loving Father of Karen Van Dyke and her husband Kenneth Kepchar of Lorton, VA and Rockport, MA; David Van Dyke and his wife Laurie of Billerica. Devoted Papa to grandsons, Patrick Van Dyke and his wife Tara, Derek Van Dyke, Garret Van Dyke and great-grandson Connor Van Dyke. Brother of Carolyn Spencer of Peabody, MA, Douglas Van Dyke and his wife Patti of Ossipee, NH, and of Sister-in-law Velma Van Dyke of Bow, NH. Brother of the late Suzanne Stevens, Henry Van Dyke and Bruce Van Dyke. US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Retired Captain of the Billerica Fire Dept. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. In lieu of flowers, consider doing a random act of kindness in his memory. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday March 2, 2022 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 10 a.m. – 12 noon followed by a Graveside Service at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica at 12:30 p.m.
