Obituary for Walter F. Chase Jr.
Walter F. Chase Jr., age 76, beloved husband of Mary “Pat” (King) Chase died unexpectedly March 6 in Port Charlotte, FL. He was born in Boston, December 9, 1935, a son of the late Walter F. Sr. and Helen W. (Taylor) Chase and grew up in Somerville before moving to Billerica. Mr. Chase served in the National Guard and was a 45 year employee of Stop and Shop retiring as the Meat Manager in its Lexington Store. He loved fishing with his grandson Jared, tending to his garden and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving daughter, Debbie Kent and her husband Chris of Chelmsford; one son, Walter Chase III and his wife Cheryl of Billerica, the late Michael Chase and his wife Karen of Billerica; Seven grandchildren, Ashley, Christina, and Jared Kent, Robert, Daniel, Alyssa and Kayla Chase. He was also the brother of the late Jean Leach. Funeral Tuesday from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Chase Scholarship, Boston College, Office of University Advancement, More Hall 220, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
