Tonie T. Trainor – Age 91, wife of the late Patrick B. Trainor died peacefully at her home with her family at her side.
She was born in Teemore County Fermanagh, Ireland, February 9, 1932, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Lynan) Reilly and raised in Ireland, before immigrating to Watertown and settling in Billerica 60 years ago.
Tonie was employed by the Billerica School Department at Project Beam as a Special Needs Teacher’s Aid for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She was a communicant of the former St. Mary Church in Billerica where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality for over 50 years. She was a founding member of the Billerica Irish American Club, Treasurer of the St. Brendan’s Society, the Shamrock Society, Norwood Irish Music club and Comhaltas Ceolteori Erin. Tonie also worked at the polls in Billerica for over 30 years.
She is survived by her children, Brendan Trainor of Quincy, Tara Garmon of Gardner, and Brea Trainor of Methuen; her brother, Matt Reilly of NY; her sister, Phyllis Reilly of London; her six grandchildren, Eric, Erin and Caitlin Trainor and Meghan, Christopher and P.J. Garmon and her six great grandchildren, Jonathan, Kayla, Anthony, Addie, Giavanna and Aiden. She was the sister of the late James Reilly, Maeve Timmons and Ita Duggan and grandmother of the late (baby) Patrick G. Trainor. She is also survived by her lifelong dearest friend and “other” sister, Mary Griffin of Billerica.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday April 6, 2023 (Holy Thursday) at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. A Liturgy of the Word will be held at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Her burial will take place at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
