Thomas J. Ferraro – age 64, beloved husband of Laci (Chevalier) Ferraro died peacefully Wednesday, October 22 at their home surrounded by his family after his long battle with cancer.
He was born in Winthrop, July 30, 1961, a son of the late Joseph A. Ferraro Jr. and Elizabeth B. (O’Hara) Ferraro and lived in Billerica his entire life.
Tom started his career working at the age of 18 for many different ambulance companies and was hired as a Billerica Firefighter in 1985. Tom worked through the ranks and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2007 and retired in July of 2022. Tom also started his own business “Rescue Resources” where he taught CPR and First Aid Training. Tom also taught at the Fire Academy, worked for the State Fire Marshalls office, was a respected member of FPAM, and held many roles with the NFPA. Tom truly enjoyed being a firefighter, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family at their home at Great East Lake.
Besides his wife, Tom is survived by his son, Thomas (T.J.) J. Ferraro and his wife Blair of Billerica; his loving granddaughter, June Ferraro; his brother, Brian Ferraro and his wife Barbara and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by numerous friends on the Billerica Fire Department and surrounding departments.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 26 at the Sweeney Memoria Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Andrew Church, Talbot Ave., N. Billerica at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the, National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation.
