Stephen L. Eakman, age 95, husband of the late Carol (Bohlin) Eakman died Tuesday, June 25, at Care One in Concord with his family at his side.
He was born in Peoria, IL, February 18, 1929, the son of Orville and Ruth R. (Stevens) Eakman, and was raised in Illinois and later moved to Framingham, Shrewsbury and lived in Stow for the past 20 years. Stephen proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as an Engineer for the LFE Company in Waltham for over 40 years prior to his retirement. Stephen was an avid sailor and was a member of the Bristol Yacht Club and was the former Commander and District Commander of the U.S. Power Squadron.
Stephen is survived by his son, Gregory Eakman and his wife Doreen of Billerica and his grandchildren, Tialyn, Troy and Alyssa.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, June 28 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A service will be held Saturday at the First Congregational Church, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. His burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
