Obituary for Stephen J. Butler Sr.
Stephen J. Butler Sr. – Age 60, beloved husband of Kristin (Holden) Butler died peacefully Sunday at their home.
He was born in Waltham, March 19, 1961, a son of Joan (Qualitz) Butler of Watertown and the late James Butler and was raised in Watertown and moved to Billerica for 22 years and most recently to Londonderry, NH.
Stephen attended the Coolidge School and East Junior High School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1979. He received a degree from Minuteman Technical High School and certificates from many Technical High Schools in Electrical. He became the youngest Manager for Papa Gino’s in 1980. He received his electrical license at the age of 20 and his master license at the age of 21 and was the Owner and Founder of Butler and Sons Inc. in Billerica.
Stephen loved the outdoors, he enjoyed skydiving, boating, hiking and scuba diving in some of the best dive locations in the world. He enjoyed nothing more than camping on his own land in Bethlehem, NH with his family and friends.
Besides his wife and mother, Stephen is survived by his daughters, Cristina McLatchy and her husband Sean of Chelmsford, Kayla Butler of Goffstown, NH and Amanda Butler of Londonderry, NH; his sons, William Butler and his wife Kami of Brewster, NY, Michael Butler of Londonderry, NH; his six grandchildren which were the light of his life; his brother, James Butler of Lowell; his sisters, Susan Dickson of Waltham and Debora McCray of Middleboro and his aunt, Janet Qualitz of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Stephen Butler Jr., husband of the late Marie (DiPirro) Butler and brother of the late Michael and Carolyn Butler.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorial contributions may be made in Stephen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
