Obituary for Stanley M. Motyka Sr.
Stanley M. Motyka, Sr., 87, of Billerica, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Life Care of Merrimack Valley Nursing Home. Stanley was born June 10, 1927, in Wilbraham, the son of the late John and Caroline (Nowak) Motyka. He was raised in Wilbraham and educated in local schools and lived in Ludlow before moving to Billerica 48 years ago and had been a member of St. Theresa Church. Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was always proud of his time in the Navy, serving his country. He was the Chief Court Officer, Sergeant –At-Arms, in the House of Representatives for 28 years before his retirement in 1990. He loved horses and enjoyed Thoroughbred racing and was the owner and trainer of “Return Impulse” early in life and “Jelly Babie” during his early retirement years. As one of 13 children, Stanley leaves his sister, Celia Ogorzalek and was preceded by his 12 siblings Leo, Emil, Mitchell, Frank, Andy, Rudy, Eddie, Wanda, Nellie, Vera and Millie. He preceded his wife Barbara (Ewing), whom he had shared 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Stanley Motyka Jr. and his wife Beth of Ossian, IN, and his two daughters; Carol Otto and her husband Greg of Lyndeborough, NH and Virginia Hankard and her husband Gary of Dunstable, MA. He is also survived by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. MOTYKA – Of Billerica, Jan. 22, Stanley M. Motyka,The Funeral Mass will now be held WEDNESDAY at St. Theresa Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-7 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
