Shirley R. Degeis – Age 88, wife of the late Peter Degeis died peacefully Monday, November 11 at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in N. Billerica.
She was born in Limestone, Maine, October 26, 1936, a daughter of the late Josiah M. and Madeline B. (Hamilton) Montgomery and lived in Chelmsford and Billerica and later lived in Bedford for 15 years.
She was formerly employed as a Nurses Aid at the Tewksbury Hospital prior to her retirement and was active at the Bedford Council on Aging.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Alan Dern and his wife Eileen of Bedford and Gary Dern of Epsom, NH and is also survived by her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Carol Gregoire.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 22 at the Shawsheen Cemetery, 15 Shawsheen Rd., Bedford at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to the Bedford Council on Aging, 12 Mudge Way, Bedford, MA 01730.
