Obituary for Shirley M. Roy
On the evening of January 12, 2021, Shirley Marie (Rice) Roy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Roy Sr., Shirley resided at their long time family home in Billerica. She was born in Westford on August 30, 1930, a daughter of the late Elizabeth S. (Hildreth) (Rice) Tallard.
She enjoyed vacationing at her home in New Hampshire with her family. Everyone who knew Shirley knows how much she loved watching sports. She was especially fond of the Boston Red Sox’s and watched them faithfully. Family was everything to Shirley. She attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and loved to watch them play. Shirley was extremely generous and proud of her family, she loved to go snowmobiling in NH, bowling, baking and playing the organ.
She is survived by her 3 Children; Patricia E. Battcock, Linda M. Mount and her husband James Mount & Leo J. Roy Jr. and his wife Melissa Roy of Billerica. She is survived by her 9 grandchildren; Matthew K. Battcock and his wife Gwen; Mary H. Lawal and her husband Adebayo; Maureen R. Venezia and her husband Joseph; Martin M. Battcock and his wife Christine; Jayne Mount; Bryan Mount and his partner Gina Carceo; Scott Roy and his partner Kayla Durgin; Daniel Roy and his fiancé, Megan DiVitto and Allison DeLuca and her husband Steven; her dear cousin, Helen Fredette of Westford as well as her 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Shirley is survived by her brother Richard Rice of Westford and her late sister Doris Squeglia.
A graveside service will be held Friday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 11:30 a.m. Social distancing and face masks will be required. Memorial contributions may be made to the Billerica Community Pantry, P.O. Box 285, Billerica, MA 01821.
