Sally M. DiRocco – age 76, wife of the late Anthony J. DiRocco died peacefully Tuesday, November 29 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
She was born in Brighton, January 21, 1946, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary B. (O’Connor) Doherty, was raised in Allston and moved to Billerica 50 years ago.
For many years, Sally was employed at the O’Connor Hardware Store in Billerica. She was a very active member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, was a member of the Women’s Club and also an Altar Server.
Sally is survived by her children, Sharon LaRue and her husband Keith of Magnolia, TX, Anthony DiRocco II and his wife Stephanie of Burlington and Michele Hamilton and her husband James of Billerica; her brother, Michael “Joe” Doherty of Framingham and the late James Doherty. She was the loving grandmother of Colleen and Shannon LaRue, AJ and Ryan DiRocco and Kiersten, Brianna and Christopher Hamilton.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 9 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 10 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 12 Noon. Her burial will take place on Monday at the Evergreen Cemetery, 2060 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish, One Grace Ave., Billerica, MA 01821.
