Ruth H. Annese – age 82, wife of the late Leonard “Lenny” Annese died peacefully Friday, September 13th at the Lahey Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Cambridge, August 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Charles and Doris (LaForest) Brewer and was raised in Cambridge, MA. She graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1960 and continued onto Cambridge City Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in the top of her class. She and Lenny married in 1967 and moved to Billerica where they would raise their family.
Ruth was employed as an ER nurse and later an OR Supervisor at Cambridge City Hospital before taking a job as a Public Health Nurse for the Town of Billerica. She retired after 20 years in 1993 due to Proposition 2.5 layoffs. She continued her nursing career until 2015 working at Cambridge Urological. Ruth's love of family was apparent to all that knew her. She cherished her children and grandchildren and was a mother figure to many of their friends. At get-togethers, she was often the life of the party, and always had great stories to tell. Ruth was beyond proud that her granddaughter followed in her footsteps of becoming a nurse and that her grandson is currently serving our country in the USAF. She enjoyed traveling to Aruba for last 36 years and made many lifelong friends while there. Week 15 and 16 at LaCabana will no longer be the same without her presence. She was an active member of St. Theresa Church and had a very strong faith. At the end of her illness, she was ready to walk into the arms of Jesus.
She is survived by her son, Marc Annese of Thornton, NH; her daughter Laura Jenkins and her husband Joel of Billerica; her granddaughter Hailee Jenkins and her fiancé Jake Lage and her grandson Hunter Jenkins.
