Roland H. “Red” Nickerson Jr. Loving husband, father, grandfather NORTH BILLERICA – Roland H. “Red” Nickerson, Jr., age 79, beloved husband of 58 years of Barbara R. (Francis) Nickerson died Saturday at Lowell General Hospital. He was born in Melrose, April 14, 1934 a son of the late Roland H. Sr. and Loretta G. (Dulong) Nickerson and has lived in North Billerica most of his life. Mr. Nickerson was a graduate of Howe High School, Class of 1952, attended New Hampshire College and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed for many years as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer for Raytheon and was an outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and our New England four. Besides his wife he is survived by one son; Dale F. Nickerson of N. Billerica; one daughter, Dawn R. (Nickerson) (DaSilva) Botting and her husband Richard of N. Billerica; his grandchildren, Erik A. Nickerson, Sara A. (DaSilva) Cruz and her husband Leonardo, Adam A. DaSilva, Derek F. Nickerson and Alex D. Nickerson; his great-grandchildren Tiago E. and Tiana K. Cruz, Shawn M. Nickerson, and Taylor K. Nickerson; one sister, Jean A. (Nickerson) Dube of FL; his daughter-in-law Linda L. Nickerson as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the father of the late Dana A. Nickerson and grandfather of the late Dana A. Nickerson Jr. NICKERSON – Of N. Billerica, Mar. 9, Roland H. “Red” Nickerson Jr. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd. Billerica from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica will be private and held at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn., 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701
