Obituary for Robert W. Callahan
Robert W. Callahan Loving husband, father and grandfather TEWKSBURY – Robert W. Callahan, age 63, beloved husband of Patricia E. (Strickland) Callahan to whom he was married 39 years, died Thursday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Everett, June 13, 1949 a son of the late Robert W. and Thelma (Evans) Callahan and lived in Everett prior to moving to Tewksbury 38 years ago. Mr. Callahan served in the US Army as a Combat Medic during the Vietnam War where he was awarded several medals including the Bronze Star. He was a Central Office Technician for Verizon in Malden for 42 years retiring in 2010, a member of IBEW Local 2222 as well as a member of the Malden VFW and American Legion. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, David Callahan of Lowell; one daughter, Laura Callahan of Tewksbury; one brother, Ralph Brown and his wife Pat of Wakefield; Two sisters, Carol Thidemann and her husband Eric of Peabody and Maureen Clark and her husband Bob of Bradford; two grandchildren, Alysa and Devin Callahan as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John Brown. CALLAHAN – OF Tewksbury, formerly of Everett, Feb. 28, Robert W. Callahan. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday in the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. Burial in Tewksbury Cemetery.
