Obituary for Robert E. Rivers
Billerica—Robert E. Rivers—Age 80, dear husband of the late M. Virginia Rivers, died Thursday, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Arlington, January 5, 1938, a son of the late Bernard and Edna (Sullivan) Rivers, and lived in Billerica for 56 years.
Bob was a self made man, starting his own forklift repair business that he owned and operated for over 40 years. He had a zest for life which stemmed from being in his favorite place: his home. When he could be in his yard, or be surrounded by his loved ones, he was sure to let everyone know that for him, that was heaven on earth. He relished every moment he got to spend with his beautiful wife, with whom he had spent 65 blissful years, and his wonderful children and grandchildren. They truly were his greatest achievement. Most times he could be found building onto his home and tending to his yard in Billerica. Bob also loved spending time at Parkwood and York Beaches, where he would visit family or continue his love for building and working with his hands.
He is survived by his two sons, Robert Rivers, Jr. of York Beach, ME, and Daniel Rivers of Billerica; his two daughters, Kathleen Rivers of York Beach ME, and Kim Scroxton of Billerica; his two brothers David Rivers of York Beach, ME, and Donald Rivers and his wife Mary of York Beach, ME; his six beautiful grandchildren, Daniel, Shelby, Olivia, Colleen, Emily and Julia, all of whom he loved dearly. Bob was predeceased by his wonderful son in law Bob Scroxton, his brother Bernard, and his best friend and business partner Don Corson.
RIVERS—Of Billerica, age 80, Robert E. Rivers, A Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday at the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, from 2-5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
