Robert A. Gates, "Bob" 79, of Billerica, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2022 at Lahey Hospital, Burlington. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Barnes) Gates.
Born in Boston on March 24, 1943, he was the son of the late George A. and Florence L. (Clay) Gates.
Mr. Gates was educated in the Roxbury school system and graduated from Roxbury High School with the class of 1961. He was employed for many years as a pipe fitter at Fraser Engineering.
Bob was a longtime member of the Billerica Elks and enjoyed camping, boating and anything to do with motorcycles.
He was predeceased by his siblings, George Gates, Florence Gigure, James Gates, and Emily Grenham.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Robin Kyle of Bolton, MA, Jack Gates of Billerica, Bob Gates of Methuen, and Brian Gates of Billerica, two sisters, Marilyn Rafferty of Raymond, NH, and Katherine Loveland of Yarmouth, grandson, Nicholas Gandee as well as many nieces nephews cousins and close friends.
At his request, a private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of his family in the near future.
