Obituary for Robert E. Alger
Robert E. Alger – Age 90, husband of the late Eleanor M. (Fitzgibbon) Alger died Monday, February 15 at the Palm Center in Chelmsford.
He was born in Cambridge, January 22, 1926, a son of the late Frank W. and Helen L. (Sullivan) Alger and lived in Billerica since 1948. Mr. Alger proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was the recipient of the WW II Victory, American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and Philippine Liberation Metals.
He was employed as a Truck Driver for Local #25 prior to his retirement.
Mr. Alger is survived by his sons, Robert E. Alger Jr. of Londonderry, NH, Brian Alger of Tewksbury and Bruce Alger of Belmont; his brother, Richard Alger of Woburn; his sister, Beverly Cantrell of S. Yarmouth and is also survived by two grandchildren, Robert W. Alger of Derry, NH and Katelyn E. (Alger) Sassano of Andover and three great grandchildren.
ALGER – Of Billerica, Feb. 15, Robert E. Alger, A graveside service will be held Monday, Feb. 22, at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayflower Rescue, 24 Sandy Neck Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537-1208 in honor of Mr. Alger’s love for his Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
