
Obituary for Robert D. Haviland
Robert D. Haviland – Age 74, beloved husband of Elaine M. (Travers) Haviland died unexpectedly Tuesday at their home.
He was born in Cambridge, March 24, 1948, a son of the late Francis and Dorothy (Sullivan) Haviland and was raised in Cambridge before moving to Billerica in 1977.
Robert was employed as a Toll Testman for Verizon for 40 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Billerica Rod and Gun Club.
Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Haviland Jr. of Billerica and Scott Haviland of Lowell; his daughter, Susan LaPorta and her partner Keith Hanson of Methuen; his brother, David Haviland and his wife Patricia of Arlington; his sisters, Susan Haviland and her partner Ed Kern of Arlington and Sally Hartnett of Waltham and his grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Justin and Gabriella. He was the brother of the late Ann Barbara Haviland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 24 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
