Loving Mother, Grandmother Great-grandmother
BILLERICA – Rita L. (Gordon) Griffin, age 83, beloved wife of the late Francis W. “Ducky” died Wednesday at Lowell General Hospital.
She was born in Malden, October 2, 1935 a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Rose (Craven) Gordon and lived in Malden and Medford before moving to Billerica over 60 years ago.
Mrs. Griffin worked at American Mutual in Waltham as well as in the cafeteria at both the Kennedy school in Billerica and at Billerica Memorial High School and was a Pen Pal for the Ditson Elementary School in Billerica for over 20 years.
Rita loved to play bingo, shop, go to lunch, visit the Billerica Council on Aging and travel. Her most recent trip was last September she traveled on a cruise with her daughters to Bermuda.
Surviving Rita are her daughters Charlene Mullen and her husband John of Billerica, Mary Lou Garabedian and her husband Richard of Townsend, Michelle Cooke and her husband Raymond of Pelham NH; her sons Daniel Griffin and his wife Lorene of Billerica and Edward Griffin of Wakefield; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Richie Garabedian and his daughter Kassi Garrow-Garabedian, Lynne Mullally and her husband Brian and their daughter Avery, Ashley Payette and her husband Andrew and their sons Marc and Aidan, Kathleen Borrelli and her husband Michael and their son Milo, Jillian and Christopher Peterson, Adam Griffin Garabedian, Allie Griffin and her finance Samuel Frawley, John Francis Griffin, Ryan Griffin, Katlyn Anctl and her husband Ryan, William , Jaimee and Cameron Cooke. In 6 weeks she was looking forward to her 6th Great grandchild Logan Frawley; one brother Richard Gordon of Brockton as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Lawrence Griffin and sister of the late Marie Patterson and Ralph Gordon.

Funeral Monday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston MA 02115.
