Obituary for Richard S. Foley Sr.
BILLERICA – Richard S. Foley Sr., age 84, husband of the late Dorothy A. (Traverse) Foley died Thursday at Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus. He was born in Wakefield, MA, May 28, 1928, a son of the late William F. and Mabel C. (Connick) Foley and lived in Wakefield before moving to Billerica 44 years ago. Mr. Foley served in the US Navy during WW II aboard the USS Guadalupe, became a turtleback when he crossed the equator and was also stationed in the Philippines and Saipan. He was employed as a procurement specialist for several local companies including, Baerd, Compugraphics, Inforex and Kollsman Inc. and was a member of the NRA, the Billerica Rod and Gun Club, the Wakefield VFW, and the National Veterans Assn. Mr. Foley is survived by two daughters, Darlene A. (Foley) Rantala of Billerica and Diana L. (Foley) Flaherty of Newburyport; two sisters, Ida M. Beaudry of Wakefield and Mabel Rutledge of ME; five grandchildren, Richard S. III and Ryan Foley and Jenna and Bianca Rantala and Blake Flaherty. He was the father of the late Richard S. Foley Jr. and brother of the late Walter J., Gerald F., Robert E. and Louise Foley. FOLEY – Of Billerica, formerly of Wakefield, Feb. 21, Richard S. Foley Sr. Funeral Wednesday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Theresa Church, Billerica at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
