Obituary for Richard P. Burtt Sr.
Richard "Rick" Burtt - Age 71, beloved husband of Barbara Haney-Burtt died Sunday, Nov. 25 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO while visiting family.
He was born in Boston, Sep 4, 1947. A son of Nelson Burtt of Burlington and the late Barbara (McFerren) Burtt. He was raised in Burlington and had moved to Billerica 45 years ago.
Rick proudly served in the U.S. Army between 1965-1969. He was a member of the Barons Motorcycle Club for 18 years. His career with the Billerica Fire
Department lasted 33 years, having retired in 2008 as a Captain and Shift Commander. After retiring he became a Special Police Office for the Town of Billerica for 5 years. He became a Justice of the Peace during that time, having officiated over 200 weddings in the area. Having many interests and hobbies he began acting and was an active member of the Screen Actors Guild, performing in many movies including Patriots Day. He was a lifetime member of the Woburn Sportsman's Club, an artist and a musician, Rick was a constant in many peoples lives.
Along with his beloved wife Barbara, and his father, Nelson, Rick is survived by his daughters: Michelle Violette of Cranston, RI; Cindy Devine and husband Mark of Windsor, CO; and his son Richard Burtt Jr. of Billerica. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: Brianna, Brandon, Garrett, Olivia, Makayla, Leigha, Nolan, and Carter.
Rick had three siblings, two sisters: Betty Numberg-Burtt and Maureen Ferguson of Bridgeton, ME: a brother, Jeff Burtt of Hollis, NH. Along with his siblings he leaves behind four each brothers and sisters in law with countless nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 16 at the Courtyard by Marriott, 270 Concord Rd.,Billerica from 1-4, with memories to be shared at 2pm. Relatives and friend respectfully invited.
