Richard J. Burns – Age 86, husband of the late Jane M. (Doucette) Burns died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Lahey Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born in Boston, September 26, 1938, a son of the late Michael A. Burns Sr. and Olive E. (Santarlasci) Burns and was raised in Somerville before moving to Billerica in 1969.
Richard was a Partner of Royco Mailing for over 20 years before his retirement. He and Jane cherished every moment spent supporting their four boys at various sporting events. Their love extended to their grandchildren, as they took great pleasure in watching them participate in their own activities. Together, they created lasting memories at Loon Mountain, embracing the thrill of skiing and enjoying time on the golf courses.
He is survived by his sons, Dave Burns and his fiancé Nancy Serentini of Billerica, Paul Burns and his wife Nancy of Billerica, Gregg Burns and his wife Michelle of Stratham, NH and Chris Burns of Dorchester; his brother, Paul Burns of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Amanda, Delaney, John, Zac, Emmy, Marshal, Leah and Jackie and his great granddaughter, Siena Rae. He was the brother of the late Michael “Al” Burns Jr. and his wife Frances Burns.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica at 10 a.m. His burial will take place at the Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
