Obituary for Richard G. Robertson Jr.
Billerica - Richard G. Robertson Jr. - Age 62, beloved husband of Susanne M. (Scott) Robertson died Monday at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill after a three year battle with cancer.He was born in Lowell, the son of Agnes ( Kearney ) Robertson of Chelmsford and the late Richard G. Robertson and lived in Lowell before moving to Billerica 33 years ago. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and Northeastern University. Mr. Robertson served in the Navy during the Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Robertson was a communicant of St. Theresa Church in Billerica.
Mr. Robertson was employed as a Clerk and Carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Bedford for over 30 years having retired in 2003. After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, wintering in Florida and summering in Maine. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Richie loved music especially that of the Beatles and enjoyed playing guitar. He especially loved the time he spent with his two girls and looked forward eagerly to their visits.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Robertson is survived by his daughters, Kelley Gorden and her husband, Robert of Astoria, NY; Meghan Robertson of N. Adams; his brother, William Robertson of Chelmsford; his sister, Elizabeth Scott and her husband Richard, of Rockport, MA, his nephew, Rory Scott of Arlington, VA; his niece, Rachel Cornaro and her husband, Michael, his grand nieces, Victoria, Isabella and Alexa of Milford, NH ROBERTSON - Of Billerica, May 9, Richard G. Robertson Jr. Funeral Thursday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd. , Billerica at 8 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 Attn. Contribution Services. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, N. Tewksbury.
