Obituary for Richard G. Morey
BILLERICA - Richard Gordon Morey, 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 29, 2014 as a result of a long, heroic battle with cancer. He was born in Boston on January 21, 1951 to the late Gordon and Margaret Morey, he moved to Billerica in 1962 and graduated from Billerica High School, Class of 1969. Though in recent years he resided in Tewksbury, he remained faithfully devoted to and well-known around the Billerica community. He volunteered many hours as a caring and passionate softball coach in the Billerica Girls Softball League for 22 years receiving 'Coach of the Year' accolades. At the time of his death, he was a hard-working, well-appreciated 40 year employee of Philips Medical Systems in Andover. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He never missed one of his grandchildren's sports games or special events. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox, and was honored by throwing out a ceremonial first pitch to represent Dana Farber Cancer Institute during their pennant season in 2013. He was the beloved father of Richard Gordon Morey, Jr. of Gray, ME, Kristina Morey Boldebuck and her partner Joseph Yutkins of Billerica and the late Joel K Morey and was a devoted Papa to Naomi and Nathan Boldebuck and Kelsey Yutkins. He is also survived by his former wife and lifelong friend Isabel Gomes Morey. He is also survived by his adoring and devoted siblings, sister Catherine Blanchard and her husband William of Lowell, brother Jeffrey Morey of Billerica, and sister Elaine Davis and her husband Paul of Billerica, loving nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncle, cousins and a cadre of very close friends. Funeral Friday from the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord, Billerica at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Theresa of Lisieux Parish, Billerica at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited and welcomed.
