Richard “Dick” A. Hamilton – Age 96, husband of the late Dorothy J. (Phillips) Hamilton died peacefully Saturday, March 15 at The Residence At Freeman Lake in N. Chelmsford.
He was born in Arlington, September 21, 1928 a son of the late Edward and Bernadette (Page) Hamilton and was raised in Arlington and lived in Billerica for many years before moving to Chelmsford seven years ago.
Dick was employed as a Quality Control Engineer having worked Sylvania, Sanders and later retired from Raytheon. In his younger years, he was a Coach for Billerica Little League, was a member of the Billerica Knights of Columbus and the former St. Theresa Bowling League. He enjoyed fishing, his trips to Fox Woods, family card games, audio books and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots.
He is survived by his sons, Rick Hamilton of Nashua, NH, John Hamilton and his wife Susan of Nashua, NH and Paul Hamilton and his wife Lori of Chelmsford; his daughter, Jeanne Burl of Billerica; his daughter in law, Maria Hamilton of Ashfield and is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Jim Hamilton and brother of the late Edward and Wilfred Hamilton, Bernice Lavey and Ruth Hinchey.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19 at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 4-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
