Obituary for Richard Gadourey
Richard Gadourey, Age 77, beloved husband of Helen M. (Stimpson) Gadourey died Friday, June 3 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington with his family by his side.

He was born in Lowell, April 22, 1945, son of the late Leo and Beatrice (Felton) Gadourey and lived in Billerica his entire life.

Richard was employed as a drywall installer for GL&S Construction in Nashua for over 30 years and later was employed as Carpenter for the Newton-Wellesley Hospital until his retirement.

Besides his wife, Richard is survived by his son, Richard Gadourey and his wife Linda of Billerica; his daughters, Michele Morris of Billerica and Heather Plater and her husband Jon of Chelmsford; his brother, Ron Gadourey of Billerica; his sisters, Joan Hardy and Brenda Steeves of Billerica and Bonnie Harbarger of Lowell and is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Craig Chestnut and his wife Tiffany, Richard Gadourey III, Mitchell Gadourey, Julie Neuman and her husband Daulton, William Morris – Dungan, Alexis Plater, Jonathan Plater, Olivia Plater and five great grandchildren: Kaydence Chestnut, Sadie Mae Chestnut, Lacey Jane Chestnut, Rita Neuman and Ryann Neuman. He was the brother of the late Bobby, Leo and Mickey Gadourey and Gerry Manning.
“Pup” as everyone called him, is proof you can succeed in life through hard work. He married his childhood sweetheart, Helen, and raised a beautiful family in a beautiful home during their 57-years of marriage. Even when he wasn’t at work he was still working – helping fix up his kids’ homes, preparing meals for family gatherings, watching and making hand-made crafts for his grandkids, or doing odd jobs around the house to keep himself busy (he never sat still!) He was devoted to his family, his work and the Red Sox. He rarely ever missed a Red Sox game, and he never missed a day of work.
For over 20 years, Pup coached softball for the Billerica Girls Softball Association. When he wasn’t working or coaching, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports from a distance. He enjoyed going down to the Cape as well as his annual trips to Maine with his family. His eyes lit up the room and his smile put warmth in your heart. He made everyone feel loved and special and never judged. We love you Pup!
Visiting hours will be held Monday at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica from 3-6 p.m. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at the Fox Hill Cemetery, 130 Andover Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the Jimmy Fund, www.jimmyfund.org
