Rhonda A. (Casassa) Geary, age 74, of Billerica, MA, sadly left us on Monday, April 3, at home with her family by her side.
Rhonda was born in Medford, MA on August 31, 1948, to the late Ernest and Ellen (Abbott) Casassa.
She grew up in West Medford, then lived in New York City for many years as a photographer’s assistant and bank teller in Manhattan. Rhonda then lived in California for a short time, before returning to MA. Upon marrying her husband, Steven, they lived in Malden before settling down in their home in Billerica, where she lived for 41 years.
Rhonda loved drawing and gardening. She always created beautiful Christmas and Easter displays for her children. Rhonda loved hosting summer cookouts and pool parties for her large family. She was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching the Red Sox with her late Uncle Ralph and never missed a Patriots game. She also never missed one of her son’s baseball or basketball games. She was always involved in her children’s school projects and sporting events. Rhonda loved music, the Allman Brothers “Blue Sky” being her favorite song. She also treasured spending vacations for many years in Plymouth, MA at her family’s summer home at White Horse Beach.
Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Lisa and son, Michael, both of Billerica; she leaves behind her beloved 21-year-old cat, Max; dog, Cosmo; and six sisters: Donna McGovern of Woburn, Elaine Veino of Saugus, Monica Fazio of Burlington, Denise Slowe of Burlington, Laurel Breen of Arlington and Karen Breen of Medford; brother, Gene Casassa of Woburn, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Vincent Casassa
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica, . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice, with appreciation.
