Obituary for Ray J. Richards Jr.
BILLERICA – Ray J. Richards Jr., age 67, beloved husband of Barbara (Mann) Richards died Thursday at Lowell General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Somerville, January 5, 1947 a son of the late Ray J. Sr. and Eleanor (Banks) Richards and lived in Burlington before moving to Billerica 20 years ago. Mr. Richards served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed as a Clerk for the US Post Office in Burlington for over 20 years, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan but was well known for his calm and kind demeanor and love of spending time with his family. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kristen Richards and her fiancée Joe Caberra of Framingham and Erin Roberts and her husband Matt of Winchester; two sisters, Anne O’Brien of Chelmsford and June Tabaldi of Burlington; one grandson Dean Roberts as well as his nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Richards Jr. A Funeral Service will be held Monday in the SWEENEY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 66 Concord Rd., Billerica at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 N. Main St., Natick, MA 01760. Burial in Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
