Obituary for Phyllis K. Cibulski

Phyllis K. Cibulski, a resident of No. Billerica, MA since 1954, and the last surviving member of her immediate family, died at her home on April 22, 2026.


Phyllis was born in South Branch, Nova Scotia, Canada, to the late Robinson & Esther (Graham) Peterson on February 23, 1924.


She was raised and educated in So. Branch, Nova Scotia, before moving to Massachusetts in 1938 at the age of 14. She was proud to become a U. S. citizen on June 1, 1953.

She was married to the late Walter G. Cibulski. She worked for USCI in Billerica for 13 years before retiring in 1989.


Phyllis and late husband Walter, as well as their son Mark, and family, were known locally for their Christmas lights display each Christmas season for over 20 years.

She was an avid knitter and enjoyed knitting baby sweater sets to sell or give as gifts, as well as crocheting afghans for her grandchildren.


She also enjoyed traveling via motor home all over the country with her children.

She loved and enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and preserving, and exchanging recipes. She was happiest when she was filling her house with aromas from the stove or oven.


Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, six brothers and six sisters; her sons, Gerald Cibulski and Walter Cibulski, Jr.; her grandsons, Michael and John Demers; granddaughter, Kathie Cibulski and son-in-law John Demers.


She is survived by her daughter Gloria Demers, Bradenton, FL; her son Mark Cibulski and wife Lili, No. Billerica, and her daughters-in-law, Betty Cibulski, Bradenton, FL, and Marie Cibulski, Pelham, NH; five grandchildren, Gerald, Jr., Todd, Jeffrey, Derek, Mark, Jr; two great-grandchildren Kayla and Ryan, several nieces and nephews throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as her close friends, Mary Lou Alves and Christine McGovern.


In keeping with mom’s wishes, there will be a private graveside service.
